Your Stouffville Real Estate Agent Caryn Parchment

Looking for homes for sale in Stouffville? You’ve made a great choice! This little town has been growing steadily over the past few decades, offering lots of fun things to do, without the fast-paced, high traffic lifestyle of big cities.

The quaint little town of Stouffville proper is a part of the municipality of Whitchurch-Stouffville located on the eastern border of York Region, north of Markham. It’s considered part of the Greater Toronto Area, with a 35-minute drive to North York or Scarborough, Toronto. MoneySense magazine recently rated Stouffville as one of the 124 best locations to live in Canada.

The municipality was founded in 1804 and became an incorporated village in 1877. It has a low unemployment rate, with many job opportunities inside and outside of the region due to its proximity to Toronto and the rest of York Region.

Due to the environmental sensitivity of the land in Whitchurch-Stouffville, additional growth in this area is provincially governed by the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Act (2001), the Greenbelt Protection Act (2005) and the Places to Grow Act (2005). These acts have mandated that the growth happens in the small urban area of Stouffville proper, maintaining the integrity of the rural areas.

Stouffville Neighbourhood Profile

Century 21 Real Estate Agent in Stouffville, Caryn Parchment understands this area well. Due to the town size and location in Stouffville proper, there is only one bus that runs through the town on a regular basis, which connects it with Markham. York Regional Transit provides this bus service. There are no buses running through the rest of Whitchurch-Stouffville; but, due to the region’s low traffic, proximity to highway 404, and several major rural roads its very easy to get around the whole municipality and out to other areas of the GTA by motor vehicle.

If you work in Toronto and want to live in the charming Stouffville community, there is one public transit option that will make your life easier. It’s the regularly scheduled, comfortable GO train service that stops in two locations in Whitchurch-Stouffville, the Stouffville station and Old Elm Station. Trains going through both stations will take you through Markham and Toronto and end at Union station in downtown Toronto in about an hour.

There is no shortage of things to do in Whitchurch-Stouffville. The region offers many parks, trails and other attractions for residents and tourists to enjoy.

Bruce’s Mill Conservation Park is a popular destination offering open spaces, trees, trails, a driving range, BMX track, picnic sites, a playground, Treetop Trekking, washroom facilities and areas for private functions.

Porritt Tract York Regional Forest is another destination you don’t want to miss, along with Willow Springs Winery, Gallucci Winery, Royal Stouffville Golf Course, and farms that offer fruit picking, pony rides, animal petting and other activities.

Whitchurch-Stouffville also offers a public library and a community centre, which showcases artifacts from area life between 1850-1946. The centre’s annual events include a Pancake Brunch, Antique and Classic Car Show, Victorian Tea and Candlelight Christmas Tea.

If that’s not enough for you, head over to the Stouffville Farmer’s Country Market on weekends, to buy produce, prepared food, home furnishings, apparel, sporting goods, music, toys, candy and more. This market is also known as Ontario’s Original “Flea Market,” operating since 1952.
