Newmarket is such a great town that it has been ranked as one of the Best Places to Live in Canada by MoneySense Magazine on more than one occasion.

Newmarket Neighbourhood Profile

Newmarket is a great place to live, retire and raise a family. It has a small-town feel, with the features of a medium-sized city. It is environmentally friendly, banning pesticides; providing community gardens; and offering more than 800 acres of parkland, which include baseball diamonds, picnic areas, soccer fields, playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts and open spaces.

Newmarket also has over 44 km of trails running through some of the parklands, which link with trails that run from East Gwillimbury to Aurora.

Since trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide and put out fresh oxygen, the massive greenery in the area has a big impact in clearing up the emissions that are released when residents and travellers drive through by motor vehicle, making this town and overall healthy environment in which to live, work and do business.

For other entertainment, Newmarket hosts several festivals each year including the Rib & Beer Festival and the Fairy Lake Artisans Festival. Plus, it has a big Silver City movie theatre, and offers 250 restaurants and coffee shops.

In addition, the town of Newmarket offers many libraries, community centres and public pools for all ages to enjoy.

For shopping, head over to Upper Canada Mall, 404 Town Centre, York Town Square and hundreds of other stores and shops of all varieties.

If you have kids, you will have 22 primary and secondary schools to choose from including private, public and Catholic. With a low overall crime rate, you can feel safe raising them here.

Public Transportation includes York Regional Transit which will not only get travellers around the town, but, also to all parks of York Region.

The GO transit system, which features comfortable buses and trains, will take Newmarket residents even further, heading north past Barrie, and south to Union Station in downtown Toronto. Off the GO system heading towards Toronto, residents can get off in Richmond Hill, head to Pearson International Airport, Hamilton, Mississauga and other areas.
